Maki Isa Ahmed Abbas
Maki has over 15 years’ experience in Telecommunications Engineering, and over 15 years’ experience in Procurement & Supply Chain Management (P&SCM), particularly CIPS, UK.
Before his retirement in September 2012, Maki had filled in the post as a Purchasing & Contract Manager at Batelco, one of the renowned Telecommunications organizations in Bahrain and in the Middle East.
Maki has developed his career in the P&SCM stream where he had undergone the CIPS qualification routes, and in 1995 he possessed the CIPS qualification and hence become an
MCIPS member. After that Maki has progressed in P&SCM field and deputized several posts within the Contracts & Purchasing department such as Contracts and procurement
Controller, Contracts Controller, Purchasing Manager, Acting Manager Procurement and Contracts (Network Services). Maki's ambitions did not stop at this; as three years later, late 1998, Maki has registered with Hull University in the UK to undergo his MBA, Where he was the first candidate in his group to graduate in July 2001.
During the period September 2000 – January 2002 Maki was selected to be one of the procurement Super Users to participate in the design, implementation, testing and post live support of Batelco's Corporate Financial System (CFS, SAP R/3). During this period
Maki took the responsibility of creating the whole Business Cases (Procedures) related to all the procurement processes; developed the requisite end user training materials and conducted the SAP relevant training programmers for the purchasing functions; and finally became the helpdesk/support for all the end users in relations to the purchasing activities, in parallel with his day-to-day purchasing activities.
As for Training & Lecturing Experience, Maki has over 16 years’ experience as a Professional Trainer and lecturer specifically in Procurement and Supply Chain Management (P&SCM), Contracts Management, Materials and Logistics, warehouse management & stock control, particularly the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) programmers (all levels). In addition to CIPS experience, Maki taught single subject diploma, Stores Management & Stock Control from ICM, UK.
As a freelancer, Maki started with giving training in the P&SCM field before he diversified into lecturing other streams of management courses. He thought many subjects, one of which was Production and Operations Management for the postgraduate (MBA) students at the University of (AMA IU, Bahrain) in 2006.
He delivered many lectures and conducted number of workshops in the field of management, some of which, but not limited to: the art and skills of dealing with customers, change management and managing change, time management, ecommerce & strategic planning.
